On Saturdays, they have a trompo and dish out some of the best Al Pastor tacos in the nation. This is a food truck, well worth the visit.
Franklin Barbecue
TOGO venue, long wait times (typically over 2 hours), delicious turkey and brisket.
Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar
Delicious karage chicken, corn fritters, fried wontons, brisket or pork tostadas, and frozen mango sake. No reservations. Long waits during peak hours.
Torchy's Tacos
Local taco chain, but sooooooo delicious. Some local favorites: Chicken Fajita taco, El Diablo, and Trailerpark (make it trashy). Also, the Hillbilly Queso is really tasty.
Terry Black's Barbecue
One of our favorite BBQs in Austin with a slightly shorter wait time than those downtown. Highly recommended by Kim: Creamed corn, pork ribs, brisket burnt ends.

Texas Capitol
The state capitol building and grounds. A nice place to visit. Lots of Texas History. Parking is a bit tricky in the immediate area.
The Alamo
Around 90 mins south of Austin, but really rich with Texas history.
Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bat Bridge
The bats of Austin fly from under the congress bridge up the Colorado river to find food every night at sunset. There are over 175,000 bats the live under the bridge during the summer. Lots of people stand on the bridge to watch the event unfold.
